Colourful icons for link imports
Recognizable platform icons make it easier to find where to paste a link.
- Look for YouTube, YouTube Music, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, SoundCloud, Vimeo, X and podcast icons in Import Audio.
- See platform names beside their icons when you paste a link.
Bring a link into your mix
Add audio from supported public video, social media and podcast links in the Mac download.
- Open a song in YouTube or YouTube Music, then choose Add Audio to Mix to import its sound.
- Paste a video, audio or podcast episode link and choose a section up to 10 minutes long.
- See progress while your audio downloads, or cancel and keep your link for later.
- Imported audio becomes an editable clip, saved with your project.
A clearer start
A music-themed loading screen shows while Beatlab checks your sign-in.
- The sign-in page stays out of the way while your saved access is checked.
- Paste Link is easier to find in YouTube previews, with clearer steps for importing an audio or video file into your mix.
- Help now explains how YouTube previews work and how to add an editable audio track.
Help when you need it
Open Help for short guides to making a beat, importing, recording and saving. Your installed version is there too.
- A larger update notice sits in the bottom-right corner, with a clear button to get the update or restart when ready.
- Choose What’s new in the notice to read that version’s changes in your browser.
- Find keyboard shortcuts and update instructions in the Help menu.
Preview YouTube and bring video audio into your tracks
Browse YouTube and YouTube Music from Import Audio, or paste a video, Shorts or music link to preview it. Choose a local video file to add its audio as an editable clip.
- Import audio from supported MP4 and MOV files. Your original file stays unchanged.
- YouTube links play previews. To create an editable clip, import an audio or video file you own or have permission to use.
- Drum steps now respond reliably to clicks, holds and velocity drags.
- Drum controls and rows stay reachable at larger text sizes.
A better fit for your Dock
Beatlab now uses the same orange B as the website. The Mac icon sits neatly inside its tile, with even space around it.
Your account, in one place
Open Profile from the studio to check your account and Studio access, change your password or log out. The same controls are now on the website.
- Delete your Beatlab account from Profile when you need to. Music saved on your devices stays there.
- Open your profile with Command-comma on Mac.
- New accounts currently get Studio access as soon as they register.
Know which version you’re getting
The latest Mac update now has its own version number, shown in the app and beside the download. You can also read these release notes from the website footer.
